MGD celebrates the Diamond Jubilee. It is
going to be a celebration, a carnival and a
Gala of remarkable joyfulness ... Here's something you might not
know: The word jubilee comes from
the Hebrew word yobel, which means ‘ram's horn trumpet’, hence the MGDian's can
‘Yobel’ all we want and blow our own trumpet.
Currently two diamond anniversaries are celebrated – one at
60 and one at 75 years. The 75th anniversary is the original diamond
anniversary and the 60th was added when Queen Victoria the Monarch of the
British Empire desired to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee on her 60th anniversary
of accession to the throne in 1897.
These 75 years of MGD tell a beautiful story, more like a musical
performance of dance and drama in continuity over the years filled with accomplishments
and disappointments.
Nevertheless the baton has been passed every year for 75
years.
Chains do not hold the MGD matrix together. It is threads,
hundreds of tiny threads which each and every MGD’ian has sewn together through
the seven and a half decades.
